Heat TubeSolar water heaters

This heat pipe solar collector has 16 heat pipes with vacuum tubes for each solar collector. In our northern climate, you get about 1 gallon/square foot maximum heating. Our technology uses high efficiency heat pipe technology, so no water flows inside the vacuum tube and copper. This is best for systems where there can be freezing weather. The header of heat pipe contacts the antifreeze solution inside the manifold when water passes inside. This heated antifreeze solution then goes into your water tank where the heat is transferred to the domestic water through copper coils built into the specialized water tank.

Solar Hot Water Tank

Water tanks can be ordered with single (copper coil) or double heat exchanger depending on your need. An electric heater is installed inside the water tank for backup. The power consumption of this electric heater depends on the volume of the water tank.

Electronic Controller: includes temperature sensors, thermostat to operate pump

The Controller will switch on the pump when the temperature at the collector sensor TC is higher than the return temperature TR by at least the pre selected amount.

The pump circulates a heat transfer fluid around the loop. Heat from the collector is transferred to the storage tank through the heat exchange coil.

With the pump running, if delta T is less than preset value, the pump will switch off.

When a preset tank temperature is reached, the controller can switch off the pump.

The check valve (non-return valve) prevents heat from the tank rising towards the collector should the tank be warmer (e.g. at night).

Simple Solar Hot Water System

The most efficient way to collect energy from the Sun is through heat. Our systems are designed to make the most of the heat coming from the sun, capturing it, and storing, and moving that heat to the place and time that you need it again.

Systems are useful for swimming pool, hot tub, domestic hot water, in-floor heat, sidewalk snow melting systems, and many other uses that use the free energy of the sun to heat water.


Tank Solar Sytem

This system is best for more temperate climates.

This style uses tank over heat tubes that have water flow through them. It is not as efficient and in severe freezing weather cannot be used. It is less expensive than the high efficiency solar heat pipe technology.

Solar water heating systems usually cost more to purchase and install than conventional water heating systems. However, a solar water heater can usually save you money in the long run.

How much money you save depends on the following:

1. Can a solar water heating system be used in place of a traditional gas or electric heating system?

In order to ensure proper efficiency of your water heating system, a solar energy system must be used in conjunction with a traditional gas or electric heating system, rather than as an alternative to a traditional system.


2. Do solar systems produce hot water in the winter?

Liberty solar systems will operate and produce hot water during the winter months but may require anti-freeze protection where temperatures get below freezing.

3. Do solar systems produce hot water on a cloudy/overcast day?

Liberty solar systems will be able to provide heating during cloudy or overcast days, but will require the use of traditional gas or electric heating system to produce required temperatures.

4. Can I use a solar collector with my existing hot water system?

Most often times solar collectors can be used with an existing system by utilizing a simple solar conversion valve that connects to your existing water tank.


5. What happens if one of the solar tubes is broken?

The tubes are very strong and not easily broken, but can be replaced very easily should one break due to extreme conditions. They are inexpensive and are an in-stock intem.

6. What is the payback/ROI of the system?

Depending on factors including geographic location of the system, insolation levels (amount of solar radiation) in that area and annual usage of the system, an average household of 4 can expect to recover the cost of a solar system within 4 to 6 years.

7. What is the life of the solar collector systems?

SPP solar systems have a life expectancy of greater than 20 years with a manufacturer's warranty of 10 years.

8. Do SPP solar heating systems require any maintenance?

Maintenance of the system is negligible; however, an annual assessment of the solar system is recommended to help to maintain efficiency levels and to help avoid potential long term problems with the system.

9. If I order a solar water heating system, what do I get?

All units are sold as a complete system with all components included to install and operate the system (excluding water storage tank).

10. How much does a solar system cost?

A system which can provide enough hot water for a family of four costs in the range of $5000 - $6000 before state and federal rebates/incentives.
